“Global Heli Art Tour”-a helicopterflight, which made the swiss “Kinderbaum”-Foundation world famous.
The Founding President of the Kinderbaum Foundation, the
Roman resident and German dentist M.D. D.M.D. Michael Schmitz, began his helicopter expedition around the world, the GLOBAL-HELI-ART-TOUR, on the 22nd of July 2002.
The expedition departed from the Vatican City and aimed to raise funds for the construction of an orphanage in South Africa.
The preparation of the tour took an entire year, was separated into 6 stages within 5 months, included 500 hours of flight-time, covered 50,000 nautical miles with 30 000 litre of fuel.
The objective for the expedition was not to cover the route as fast as possible, but instead to promote and gather donations for the Kinderbaum Foundation.
Our objective was to gather donations through the tour and spread throughout the globe our message for “more tolerance towards one another” by attending the opinion that “a smile unites the world”.
The tour started in Rome, then crossed Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, U.A.E., Oman, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Malasya, Indonesia and Australia as well as North and South America, Africa and Europe.
Il presidente della fondazione Dr. Michael Schmitz, medico e dentista tedesco, che vive e lavora a Roma ha iniziato il suo giro del mondo in elicottero – il „Global-Heli-Art-Tour“- il 22 luglio 2002.
Il Global-Heli-Art-Tour era diviso in diverse tappe ed il Dr. Schmitz durante le chiusure del suo studio dentistico a Roma volava in tutto il mondo.
La prima tappa partendo dalla Città del Vaticano con la Benedizione del Santo Padre Giovanni Paolo II ha attraversato la Grecia, la Turchia, la Siria, l’Arabia Saudita, il Bahrain, gli Emirati Arabi, l’India, il Nepal, il Bangladesh, la Birmania, la Thailandia, la Malesia, l’Indonesia fino a Darwin in Australia.
Ha terminato la seconda tappa nel Marzo 2003 attraversando l’Australia.
La terza tappa nell’estate 2003 lo ha visto volare in Alaska attraversando il Canada, l’America Centrale e terminando il suo giro in Sud America.
Nell’autunno 2003 e fino alla primavera 2004 ha terminato il Suo tour con la quarta ed ultima tappa sorvolando l’Africa fino a ritornare nuovamente in Europa.
Durante questo viaggio di 50.000 „nautical miles“, Schmitz ha promosso personalmente la Fondazione Kinderbaum in tutto il mondo e contestualmente ha raccolto le donazioni per la creazione dell’orfanotrofio.
Per il Global-Heli-Art-Tour ha usato il suo proprio elicottero ed autosostenuto economicamente tutti i costi della spedizione. Così facendo tutte le donazioni in denaro ed il ricavato delle opere d’arte verranno dedicate esclusivamente allo scopo della Fondazione. L’idea del viaggio è stata dal Dr. Schmitz fortemente voluta così da poter contribuire il più velocemente possibile alla realizzazione del primo villaggio per bambini di Kinderbaum.
